Check in with Chellapah pt 1
Welcome to weekly check in posts – a new addition to my blog. I’ll be posting a summary of my Monday-Sunday whenever I have an exciting week! Shout out to my flatmate Andrew for providing inspiration for the blog post title.
There was lots of stress this week but it was mostly a good kind of stress. The first week back is always a bit rough especially when you have two deadlines and need to try to get back into a proper routine but I survived! Here we go:
A very busy day first day back wow. See my first day back post for extra secret info in a more in depth post!
I don’t have any classes on a Tuesday but I spent most of the day working on an 2000 word essay for my religion module. In the evening at around 6pm, I went to an exec meeting for the society Codpiece Theatre of which I am currently the Outreach Officer. If you like theatre (I’m guessing you might since you’re reading this blog) then be sure to like Codpiece Warwick on Facebook to keep updated with all of our shenanigans (cheeky plug).
After my exec meeting, my friend Ashleigh and I headed to the duck and gobbled down LOTS of food We may have ordered twice and the guy serving lowkey judged us but we needed fuel before heading to the library to work on our essays. I find it so much easier to work with other people even if it’s just that you’re sitting next to someone in the library while you work and the library is open 24/7 which is FAB if you are partially nocturnal like me!
Again I have a day off on Wednesday (lucky me yay). After a late night at the Library the day before, I had a nice little lie in and then made my way into campus for a marketing meeting at 4pm. I am Head of Fundraising and Events for Music Theatre Warwick’s musical ‘Follies’ in the Arts Centre Theatre. We’re holding a fundraiser TONIGHT at Bedford Street in Leamington! You can expect live music, great company and wonderful a promise auction from the cast and crew so do feel free to pop by from 8pm (cheeky plug no. 2).
I had 2 classes for the first time: Performing Online and Melodrama in the 19th century. Most of the class consisted of going through the term schedule and assignments that we would need to hand in. In Performing Online we also discussed the play ‘The Nether’ and in Melodrama we looked at the key conventions of Melodrama as well as links to theatre today. After Performing Online finished I submitted my Religion essay online at tabula and also printed it off to submit a hard copy.
Fridays are also a busy day for me but by far my favourite. I have Theatre in the Community from 9am-1pm and then Writing for Performance from 2:30-5:30pm. This Friday I also had Noughts and Crosses rehearsals after Writing which you should definitely come and watch in the Arts Centre Studio in week 6 (cheeky plug no. 3)
I work as a youth theatre leader at Warwick Arts Centre on Saturday mornings and this was our first Saturday back. My fellow theatre leader, Amy, and I started our Comedy and Tragedy inspired term plan with an introduction to Ancient Greek theatre! After this I went home and just chilled at home with my flatmates and made myself some tomato and mozzarella pasta woo!
On Sunday morning I went to Coventry Elim’s church service at the Belgrade Theatre. I’ve been going to Coventry Elim since week one of first year and really love it! The service was called ‘The Invitational Life’ and was all about being ambassadors for Christ. Afterwards we went to a cafe and I ordered a panini and then a Nutella crepe afterwards because why not? Sundays are always my favourite day of the week!
That’s all for this week folks – see you next time for pt 2!
